There is always a reason to smile!

Happiness. It's a word full of hope, expectation and desire. And we all have our own ways of achieving it. Yours might involve being curled up on a sofa with a blanket watching your favourite tv show, or some might find it on a tipsy saturday night with your friends at your favourite bar. Isn't it funny how we all have our own different ways of acquiring happiness, but the end result is the same.

Sometimes I think we can take for granted what happiness is. I think we put too much pressure on ourselves to do crazy, exciting things in life, to the point we dismiss the small things, like catching up with an old friend, or laying in bed watching a movie with your loved ones. I believe our happiness is made up of the small moments in life that we should appreciate more. So what if you haven't been on holiday this year? Or you haven't figured out your next career move? Or plans of moving out of your parents home haven't happened yet? These 'big' moments in life are special, they're rare and when they happen they will change your life, but they can't happen every day.

I believe everyones time will come to have these life changing moments that will fill you up with joy and happiness. But life isn't made up of a continuation of extreme highs, if it was I'm sure we'd all be exhausted! I suppose what I'm trying to say is, don't take the small moments in life for granted, or think you aren't happy because your life may not be where you want it to be. I don't know what I want to do with my life which stresses me out no end, and when I feel completely fed up I take a step back and remember what's important. I have a great family, friends, a place to live and a job I enjoy.
I may not be the most popular person, or have the biggest house, or have thousands in the bank, but I'm happy.

I always say, no matter where you are, or what you're doing, always try and make the best out of any situation. And when the big moments come, which they will, it will be great, but just remember they are rare, so appreciate the small things that make you happy. A few of mine involve grabbing a coffee with a friend, or catching up on Youtube videos, going down to stay with family for the weekend, having a shopping trip or even just the first cup of tea in the morning. Don't take any days of your life for granted, you are here for a reason, and yeah not everyday is going to be the best day or your life, nor will it be the worse. But the fact you are here today is a bloody good reason to be happy, so stop putting so much pressure on yourself, and just enjoy the ride!

Take care,
Fay x

  2. Yay I love this post! I can't get enough of positivity, some people don't realise but it can really change your life to make a conscious effort to be more optimistic.
