What A Summer!

What a summer I've had.
It's been a whirl wind of adventures, and I'm just getting my head around the fact winter is coming, the days are getting shorter, the nights are becoming longer, and the weather is getting colder. Unless you follow me on Instagram, you probably think I've been hiding away for months! But it's quite the opposite, I don't think I've ever been so busy in all my life! Which is why there has been such an absence on my blog/Youtube channel. I do apologise, but in terms of my outlook on life and general happiness, it is just what I needed.

Let's start with the beginning. I handed in my resignation at work, one of the scariest things I could have done! It had been my safety blanket for far too long, when I went there I knew exactly what I was doing. It had become so much of my routine that I couldn't see anything past it. Working 11am till 10pm cuts out any social life I had, and staff was low which meant I was working most days. Don't get me wrong, I love it still and will always pop in to say hello because it's like a second family to me. But I'm happy I left.

Then I drove down to Hastings to stay with my wonderful auntie. I was slightly nervous, anxious and excited. My auntie seems to know the whole population of Hastings, which meant I was meeting new faces everyday! Needless to say, everybody I met was so welcoming and friendly, I felt comfortable in this new environment which for me was a huge relief!

Obviously as I wasn't working, I had time to myself most days, so I'd keep myself busy by walking down to the Old Town. Exploring new places, finding cute cafe's, taking photographs and just having time with myself. I hadn't had time with myself in a long time, it felt odd. I thought I would feel lonely but no, I felt happy.
Even though I was wondering this town, on my own not having anywhere to go, or anyone to see. I felt content. And the thought of returning home was frightening!

I worked for a few days at a festival organised by the council. It was a lot of fun, very long days, and again I was meeting so many new people. Working as a team to achieve something great felt good. It was a food & wine festival, so as you can imagine the food was amazing! And we had local bands play on the big stage which again, was a real treat!

After those hectic days, myself and 10 others all hopped on a plane and flew to Spain, Calpe for a week! It's fair to say, we all had an incredible time! My auntie had organised this holiday with her friends months ago to stay in a villa. Fortunately for me and my two best friends, we were invited along!

I knew I wanted to go back to Hastings after this when at the airport I was on my way to Surrey, but so desperately wanted to be going the other way, back down to Hastings.

I had a few weeks free so decided to help out again at work. This turned into working full time again, but I didn't mind! It gave me chance to earn a bit of money, catch up with my friends, and of course see the customers who I love dearly. I'm lucky in knowing I can always go back to work if everything else fails. It's my safety blanket like I said, but just the knowing it's there can give you the confidence you need to try new things.

After a few weeks of waitressing, and booking my first photography job with a bathroom showroom (which was very exciting) I was packing my bags again to spend a week in New York with my dad and sister. New York is somewhere I've always dreamed of going. And my dream had become a reality when we landed in JFK on the 2nd of October.
I loved every. single. minute.
I would go back in a heart beat.

The whole city feels alive with activity. Everyone seemed to have a purpose, a place to be going, I wanted to feel that. I wanted to feel like I had a place in that City. Every street was buzzing with activity, a restaurant to visit, a landmark to admire, a film set to show an interest in. It was happening everywhere.

Although we were slightly too early to see autumn in New York, the season was definitely changing. One day would be hot, the next would be bitterly cold! The leaves were starting to fall ever so slightly, and Central Park was just beautiful.
All I can say is, if you've ever fancied visiting NYC, go! Save up those pennies and book your flight! It really is worth it, and everyone I've spoken to feels the same way!

So now what?
I'm currently writing this from sunny Hastings. I've been job hunting for many weeks and have been looking at Christmas temporary work!
Who knows, maybe the idea of living here will be better than the reality.
But I'll never know unless I try.
I hope you liked this blogpost, I feel like you now know where I am, and I'd love to hear all about your summer!
Take care,
Fay
